This piece: Dad and I: A Daughter Wrestles with Grief, examines the painful realities of life, especially at the point of transition into eternity. Della presents her struggle with losing a loved one and the immediate aftermath of such a demise. Her experience with grief as she watched her dad die leaves so much to reflect in the pages of this book. Death, being an endemic reality, confronts humankind irrespective of gender, age, social status or nationality from the womb to the tomb. People respond to death in different ways. The pain of grief is greatly influenced by the depth of intimacy with the deceased. Every bereavement does not produce the same level of emotional pain in everyone; the latter needs to face death just as it comes, confronting the emotional and psychological pain thereof. This is briefly what this book is all about! The author enjoins the bereaved to face death courageously, mindful of who they are. This is a hands-on approach to grappling with grief after the loss of a significant loved one! It is a must-read for everyone.
