The poems in this collection handle critical issues in our global and contemporary world such as identity consciousness, love, sports, terrorism, religion amongst others. Being a female poet, Asangong does not lose sight of issues that concern women although she does not articulate the extremist views of radical feminists. She highlights the sufferings and challenges of the female folk in a typical patriarchal context. She portrays herself as an acerbic critic of the crisis of leadership in post-colonial Africa and thus, calls for national unity and patriotism in her country and the entire African continent.
