This book seeks to examine the contribution of
language and artistic productions to social cohesion in
Cameroon. Given that the country has been faced with
challenges like Boko Haram attacks, the deep suspicion
between the northern region and the southern region of
the country, the continuous cry of marginalisation by
Anglophone Cameroon and the present arm struggle
for Anglophone secession; Cameroon has shifted from
its slogan of being an ‘island of peace’ into the trouble
waters of insecurity. The essays, here presented,
all use philology and cultural artefacts like literature
and theatre to discuss the complex nature of the
Cameroonian nation-state.

The papers attempt an epistemic diagnosis of the
issues facing social cohesion in the Cameroonian
nation-state and ways to define a cameroonianity
that is all embracing. Also of note is the fact that, this
approach has opened us to embrace an avalanche of
methodological and theoretical methods to address the
intricacy of the social cohesion effort in Cameroon.
