"A room without books is like a body without a soul."
On the occasion of World Book Day, Nyaa and Partners hosted a special book evening event at their head office in Yaounde, Cameroon. The event was organised by Nyaa Publishers and the Anglophone Cameroon Writers Association (ACWA), and it featured a variety of activities and discussions related to the book industry.
The event attracted Writers, Publishers, Researchers and Members of the National Booklist Commission, who shared their experiences and insights on the challenges and opportunities facing the book sector in Cameroon. They also discussed the criteria and procedures for getting books approved for the national booklist for schools, which is a key factor for promoting reading culture and education in the country.
The participants also enjoyed some literary performances by playwrights, who showcased their skills in sketches, recitals and poetry. The performances highlighted the diversity and richness of Cameroon's literary heritage, as well as the creativity and talent of its writers.
The event was a success and a testament to Nyaa and Partners' commitment to supporting and promoting the book industry in Cameroon. It also served as a platform for networking and collaboration among the various stakeholders in the sector. Nyaa Publishers and ACWA expressed their gratitude to all those who attended and contributed to the event, and they encouraged potential Writers and those with unpublished works to get their work published and join the literary community.
